Hi lucie, stumbled across your website by chance as I searched for decorating/paint ideas...very impressed!

I am currently involved in quite a large DIY project with my apartment in Stanhope Castle, Co. Durham and am stuck for a sitting room colour scheme? Have got the taster pot samples on card as we speak but it's deciding which ones to go with or breaking walls/ceilings up into different colours? I'm concentrating mainly on golds/creams at the moment because of the dark brown scumble glaze fire surround and black tiled victorian fireplace with black hearth. Would appreciate any ideas? I'm not rich by the way!! This place use to be a borstal!!

Interior design can actually be quite difficult because it all depends on personal preferences. The trends in commercial and residential interior design change on a regular basis, however what goes out of fashion will normally come back into fashion in around 50 years. Lots of people like nostalgia, which is why things typically come back into fashion. Interior Decorators Designer http://interior-decorating-trends.blogspot.com

Can you give me your advice please on paint colours? Kitchen walls are F&B 'Slipper Satin' and cupboards 'Shaded White'. The day room is separated from the kitchen by a low wall, and is sunnier and lighter than the kitchen. I originally painted this adjoining day room also in 'Slipper Satin' but found it 'cold' and then tried 'String' but this is too dark. Do you think 'Matchstick' would be a good compromise? The floor will be stripped back and there is other wooden furniture in this room.

Many thanks for your help
Miriam

Hi - has anyone found a colour similar to F&B Slipper satin in the Little Greene range? I want to use their Ultimatt finish, but love the colour of slipper satin. I must have about 20 sample pots here :-)

thanks
